WRITING CHECK

Proofread your thesis, check plagiarism and see how AI-like your writing looks

Writing Check proofreads journals, projects, theses and dissertations, finds text that matches other sources, and estimates how much looks AI written. You accept or ignore every correction, and the word counter is free. Other checks cost credits per 1,000 words, shown before you start.

What Writing Check does

Proofreading and corrections

Finds spelling, grammar, punctuation, word choice and unclear sentences, and gives a short reason for each so you learn from it. Accept or ignore every one, then put the accepted corrections into your text.

Plagiarism report

A similarity percentage, the sources with matching text, and the matching passages highlighted in your document.

AI-content estimate

An estimate of how much of the text looks machine written, with the most suspicious sentences marked. A guide, not proof.

Free word counter

Words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading time, speaking time and your most used words. Runs in your browser.

What it can and cannot do

Academic checks only help if you know their limits, so here they are.

  • Similarity is not plagiarism. Quotations, references and common phrases also match other sources. The report shows you where, and you decide.
  • Coverage is limited. The plagiarism check covers the web and the documents its provider indexes. It cannot see everything, so a low score is not a guarantee.
  • AI detection is an estimate. No detector is reliable enough to prove who wrote a text, and they sometimes flag honest human writing. Never use the score alone against a person.
  • You stay in control. The proofreader suggests, you decide. It does not change your ideas, numbers, citations or quotations.

Who it is for

  • University students writing projects, theses and dissertations
  • Researchers preparing journal articles
  • Lecturers and supervisors reviewing student work
  • Editors and writing centres
  • Anyone writing in English as a second language

Pricing

The word counter is free and unlimited. Proofreading, plagiarism and the AI estimate use Creative Credits, charged per 1,000 words for each check you choose. You see the exact price before you run anything, there is no subscription, and a check that fails is refunded. New accounts can add credits from the dashboard.

Questions people ask

What is Writing Check?

Writing Check is a tool on Truecode Cloud that proofreads academic writing, compares it with other sources to find matching text, and estimates how much of it looks machine written. It also includes a free word counter. It is made for journal articles, project reports, theses and dissertations.

How does the plagiarism check work?

Your text is compared with web pages and documents held by a specialist plagiarism service. You get a similarity percentage, a list of the sources with matching text, and the matching passages highlighted in your document. Similarity is not the same as plagiarism, because quotations and references also match, so read each source before you decide anything.

Will it find every copied passage?

No. The check covers the web and the documents the service indexes. It cannot see paywalled journals, private repositories or other students' theses unless they are available there, so a clean result does not prove that nothing was copied.

Can an AI checker prove that I used AI?

No. AI detectors give an estimate, and they can wrongly flag human writing, especially from people writing in a second language. We show the estimate and the sentences that look most machine written, as a reason to look closer, never as proof. Your school or journal sets its own rules.

How does the proofreading and grammar correction work?

An AI editor reads your text and suggests corrections for spelling, grammar, punctuation, word choice and unclear sentences, with a short reason for each. Nothing changes until you accept it. You can accept or ignore each suggestion, put the accepted ones into your text, and copy the result or download it as a Word file. It never changes your ideas, numbers, citations or quotations.

How much does it cost?

The word counter is free. The other checks use credits, charged per 1,000 words for each check, and the exact price is shown before you run anything. There is no subscription. If a check fails, the credits for it are returned.

How long a document can I check?

Up to 30,000 words in one check, which covers most theses chapter by chapter and many full dissertations. You can paste text or upload a Word, PDF or text file. Scanned PDFs that are only pictures of pages cannot be read, so use a Word file or paste the text.

Is my work kept private?

Your document is saved only so you can open the report again, and you can delete any check, and the text with it, at any time. We do not add your work to a database that other people can search or compare against. The text is sent to our AI and plagiarism providers to do the check.
